Doc in the Wild
Doc in the Wild is an action-packed 2-Day course in wilderness medicine and rescue skills for General Practitioners and Hospital Doctors in the wilds of County Wicklow.
Docs with a sense of adventure will get the experience of a lifetime — a flavour of a different type of medicine, a world away from anything they might see in their day-to-day work. WEMSI-International will offer a select group of intrepid doctors a unique two-day experience which will challenge them and make them think outside the box.
What will Doc in the Wild offer?
Dramatic medical, trauma and rescue scenarios in the Wicklow Mountains where our Doc in the Wild students will be able to apply new-found techniques they’ve acquired in related skill stations. Our Docs in the Wild will learn kit assembly, improvisation skills, patient handling and packaging, and patient monitoring and rescue skills. On the final day our Docs in the Wild will get the opportunity to demonstrate their proficiency and ability to improvise in a series of exercises -Â a real test of teamwork and core competencies.
